Namaste,

Swami Tejomayananda, the head of the Chinmaya Mission is visiting

Washington Metropolitan to open Chinmayam - the new Children

Educational Center. He has been providing lectures for the past few

days and those who are in the Washington Metropolitan are cordially

invited by the Mission. The Yajnas are free of charge and if you are

in the Washington Area, don't miss this golden opportunity.

Yesterday, Swamiji spoke for an hour on "The Yoga of Health." His

Yajna was quite powerful and inspirational and he demonstrated how

his health has improved after practicing this Yoga for the past 7

months. This yoga is simple because, we don't need a kitchen a

prepare our food! Buy fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts and just cut

or break and eat them as much as we want! Swamiji had a family

history with high-blood pressure and diabates and he was advised by

the expert doctors to consume prescription drugs to control the

symptoms. Fortunately, last January, Swamiji met a doctor (Vijaya

Venkat) who suggested the new diet of Vegetables and Fruits instead

of eating an elaborate cooked meals. Swamiji has been eating only

vegetables, fruits and nuts since last January and currently stopped

taking all medicines. Swamiji says that his bloodpressure is normal

and all the symptoms of Diabetes also disappered. Honestly, when I

looked at him, he looked healthier and has lost also some weight.

The Yoga of Health requires the following:

No dairy products, no coffee or tea or drinks except water or fruit

juice.

Vegetables mostly raw and some could be boiled or half cooked if

necessary but no additional ingredients. Fruits and nuts are eaten

without further processing. (No Salad dressing or additional spices

including salt or sugar)

Swamiji says that our body follows three cycles:

First Cycle: Morning 4 to 12 - Internal cleaning process. To help

this process going smooth, we take minimum amount of food in the

moring mostly fruits.

Second Cycle: From Noon to 8 PM. Digestion process.

To help the body to digest the food efficiently, we should eat

vegetables and fruits which are easily digestable for Lunch and

Dinner and Dinner should be eaten before the Sunset.

Third Cycle: Night 8 PM to Morning 4 AM. Conversion and Restoration

Process

The body converts the digested food to help the body produce

essentials for the functioning of the body. To help this process, we

should sleep and do not indulge in activities that disturb the body

functioning efficiently.

The Yoga of Health as outlined by Swamiji is quite attractive and we

can all implement it and reap the benefits. Swamiji also cautioned

that all yogas including this one should started slowly and steadily

instead of changing drastically our current routine.

Finally, though I tried to summarize the message of Swamiji

Tejomayandaji, if you find it not effective, you should blame me. The

best way to understand his message is to hear him directly and I

strongly recommmend everyone who is in the Washington Metropolitan to

attend his inspirational lectures on Gita and Tulsi Ramayan.

Warmest regards,

Ram Chandran
