Guest guest
We plan to resume the notes on Brahmasuutra soon. It was stopped after the discussion of first four suutra-s. I had to stop it due to time constraints - occupied by naimittika karma-s. Since the time constraints are somewhat reduced we will start again. I realize that advaitin is getting flooded with several mails - two posts on Giita and Chandogya upanishad. But that is exactly the purpose of this list serve - educate ourselves with adhyaatmika vidya - In the final analysis this is the only one that counts. As it is pointed out in Ch. Up - by Uddalaka to his son - if he has learned that what is the cause because of which all effects are manifested - If that is not known any other knowledge is only relative but not obsolute. On the other hand if one knows that very cause for all causes then one is the master of all - In mundaka - the student asks - kasminno bhago vij~naate sarva idam vij~naatam bhavati - Hai Bhagavan - please teach me that knowing which everything is known. The whole teaching from then on is centered on that absolute knowledge. For those who joined later, I suggest that they open the Brahmasuutra folder stored in advaitin files and study the discussions that went on. I strongly recommend the study of the adhyaasa Bhaashya part since that is the essence of Shankara Bhaasya. After each posting enough time will be provided for discussions and when there are no more discussions - we post the next one. As all the members now recognize, I am a very bad speller and my mind goes faster than my typing fingers. Onl when I read the post I discover all the mistakes I made. Even if I proof read, I will read what mind thinks than what I see on the page. But in spite of these limitations I gather that readers can still make some sense out of the posts. I will be starting with suutra 5 although couple of posts were made in the past- but since it is not in the Brahmasuutra folder, we will repet it. It will have much relavence to Ch. Up that Gummaluru is posting since most of the discussion will be centered on that particular chapter of Ch. Up. Murthy gaaru's post together with Brahmasuutra bhaasya will be like toppings on the ice cream! Hari OM!
