Recently I read the following book and was very much impressed

by the fact that it covers all the 18 puraNas of vyAsa in a

unique way. It does not go Purana by Purana but for every story

we have ever heard from the Puranic expositors, there is some

chapter here in this book which encompasses it , very

authentically. At the same time since it comes from a western

pen, it is able to bring out the essential points of the story

without being carried away by an emotional or sentimental

attachment to the characters of the story. I recommend it, more

than an encyclopaedia.
