Swami Dayananda also mentioned 'perhaps' Bhagavan Srikrishna did not use the word 'Samadhi' in the entire Bhagavad Gita. Two Questions on this topic: *** 1. Have you people observed this ? How did you convince yourself, for Arjuna asking this question, based on ONLY the information given to him until that point. *** 2. Considering the above observation, 'Samadhi' has nothing to with commonly known concept of Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. Probably it has nothing to with 'Realisation', because until that point 'Realisation' was not the topic, (I guess, it was only to motivate Arjuna to know that he was just a tool in the Lords's hand). I may be wrong, So what is the single point that Lord Srikrishna was trying to impress on Arjuna until the point Arjuna asked this 'Samadhi' question ? If so what was Arjuna imagining ? Did he get the answer to the same tune ? Om Namo Narayanaya !! Srikrishna
Guest guest
Namaste Sri Krishnaji. Sunderji's quote is from the 2nd chapter. 2.54 is Arjuna's question in response to 2.53 wherein Bhagwan Krishna himself had introduced the word samadhi (samAdhAvachala). This is translated as "unshakably absorbed in oneself". I would like to translate it as "absorbed in oneself like a mountain". I am reminded of a bhakta poet of Kerala who once addressed a mountain : "Oh, unnata nityAnanda samAdhishta sailah!" (Oh, tall mountain immersed in the samAdhi of unending happiness!). So, the idea of samAdhi, mountain and Ananda are deeply etched in our psyche. Sage Vyasa was no exception. Are you quoting Swami Dayananda Saraswathiji (Arsha Vidya Peeth)? He has written a very extensive commentary on the Bhagwath Geetha. Perhaps, fortunate ones on this list who have it can quote his interpretation of these two verses. Best regards and pranAms to all advaitins. Namaste to all. The dialogue starts with 2:39 where Krishna hints at 'working without fruitive results' and the associated freedom. [Also Refer 'samatvam yogah' in 2:48, 'karmasu kausalam' in 2:50 .. continuing onto 2:54 with 'sthitapraGYasya'.] I think this is may be the single point SriKrishna was trying to impress so far.
