Guest guest
Hello All, Sri Nairji I enjoyed your post 14871. My wife says that if I take to Sanskrit the house will never get finished. So for the moment in relation to you fellows I must remain like the rustic savant who never went to school but met the scholars coming home. IX.2: The royal secret that is directly experienced and moreover easy to practice. That sounds like a riddle. What is the open secret that is so big you don't see it but you can practice it. It has been called the practice of the presence. 'Vasudeva is all'(VII.19) Sankara's commentary We are in it all the time which is a truth that is graspable as a metaphysical intuition or as often happens by the grace of a Perfect Master we are brought into it. Figure/Ground: What makes things stand out? What is a universal or a natural kind? This was one of the first problems that occured to the philosophic mind. Do universals select themselves? Are there natural kinds? The multiverse is a world of attrition - of mere things. This is the level of demarcation and territory and the bounded life. The poor contrarian is at home at that level. Beyond individuals is 'natura naturans' (nature naturing) or prakriti. It is the ebb and flow of a cosmic tide. There the conceptual schema that sieves and sorts has not happened yet. This is the mystic's direct experience. He sees but does not separate. Like a child talking to a moonbeam he names things. This primal wonder is expressed mythically in Genesis 2.19/20. "And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them; and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not an help mate for him." >From the undifferentiated oceanic unity of being Adam is now in the world of namah rupah. But its venom is drawn for he knows that he is naming, that is a facet of the 'royal secret'. Guest guest
Namaste. Many thanks, Mike-Ji and Ram(2)-Ji for your very kind words and understanding. Mike-Ji, my prayers for the early completion of your beautiful house. About the quote from Genesis, have you read the quotes from Yogananda Paramahamsa compiled by one of his lady-disciples (I forgot the title of the book.)? He had found a lot of vedanta in the bible and Christ's teachings. Pranams. Guest guest
MY DEAR NOBLE DEVOTEE OF SRI SANKARA BHAGAVATPUJYAPADA, May I request you to kindly help me to get more explanation on the following quote with some other cross references ,if any , from the Holy Bible. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them; and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not an help mate for him." I am trying to collect information on naming and language in the Holy Bible. Thank you very much .
