****** [23] Nandini : Bestower of all boons.

 

Nandini is the sacred cow, sometimes called surabhi and sometimes

kAmadenu [the desire fulfilling cow] She is the first mother of

cattle. She is a goddess with marvellous powers and attainments who

gives milk whenever they may need it. Sage VisvAmitra and his party

got astounded when the divine cow of Vasistha gave them a sumptuous

meal.

 

Here, however, nandini is the Mother Goddess who fulfils all desires

of devotees and confers perennial joy on them.
