Guest guest
Namaste Sri Shankar: The answer to your question is obviously no! Vedanta explains what is permanant and what is transient? The subject, Atman is permanant and all objects other than the Atman are transient and not permanant. According to Vedanta, our true is nature is SatChitAnand. Our only problem is that we seem to be unaware about our true nature look for happiness (Anand) outside. We are like an ocean and we don't need to look for water! We are neither overfilled nor we can be drained!! Coming back to your question, it is possible to define and identify happiness derived from material acquisition. It is also possible that such an happiness can be enjoyed by all people with varied preferences. Vedanta just warns us that the 'materialistic happiness' cannot be permanant because the materials (objects) are not permanant. If we identify happiness with material gains then we are likely to lose such gains and consequently we are likely unhappy! Hapiness is what everyone aims for.
