Guest guest
A QUESTION: WHO DOES REINCARNATE?
Guest guest
Namaste. The simple answer to this question is: The asker of this question reincarnates as long as he is deluded. Once I asked a renowned Swamiji who is the one deluded. He gave the above answer with a smile. I thought he was pulling my legs. Having gone through the Bhagwath Geetha and other upanishads, I don't any more feel so. There is a big question that should precede "WHO INCARNATES?". And that is "DO WE INCARNATE?". If there are references in the Bhagwath Geetha to answer this in the affirmative, one has to understand such references as applicable only to the deluded to whom it is exclusively targeted. Arjuna initially was one bothered by such mundane worries. Realization is understanding that the real one is immutable and beyond reincarnation, as Ram-Ji has rightly pointed out. Freedom from the sense of births and deaths is the liberation that advaita extols and it can be appreciated right here and right now through a proper understanding of the scriptures. Pranams. Guest guest
Shanti Madathil Nair, I think I comprehend that from the Nirguna level, so to speak, there is no such thing as reincarnation, and if such were my consciousness level no point to my question. On the other hand, I am not at Nirguna consciousness level here and now and therefore my point of view is from down here and alas not from up there. Was it my body that reincarnated? Was it my reflection of consciousness that reincarnated? Was it my jiva that reicarnated? Was it the atman within this vase that reincarnated? Do we incarnate? Certainly I understand, conceptually, that Nirguna, so to speak, does not. But who does? Who, which one, is this I that feels he/she is right here, and asks this type of question? I feel that: if I can circumscribe with precision this I, which is asking the question, can I also start to have an intuition with regard to what is beyond it? Could you expand? Guest guest
Namaste Shri Frua. I will answer you shortly. Please give me time. I am already working on it and want to make it very simple. Perhaps, I may have to abridge the whole of advaita as I understand. Your questions are a very tall bill, indeed. Pranams.
