Guest guest
friends, The union of the jivatman and Paramatman-the individual self and the brahman which is described as immediate presence, omniscient and absolute knowledge and Sat Chit Ananda. The union is brought about by a process which can be understood by a scientific illustration.when a source of high electric charge comes into contact with a conductor.in a trice, the electric current passes from the one to the other, and thereafter, the two exist as one medium for the transmission of electricity. in a like manner, the Jivatman can be considered as merging in the Paramatman;but it is important to remember that this is not a fortuitous union-a union by chance.it is the attainment of a final and preordained goal-Lakshya-which follows a law-sanathana Dharma- which is as old as creation itself. This union is achieved only rarely,so rarely that only one, perhaps in amillion, gains that experience, after becoming entitled to it,by the acquisition of merit through many births.this is reflected in ahigh state of being, almost divine in its excellence.it involves the Jiva or the individual self with such pureity of nature that rays of the resplendent brahman are reflected in it with full brilliance. This is what adi shankara says in his hymn Bhaja Govindam. satsangatwe nissangtwam, nissangatwe nirmohatwam, nirmohatwe nischalatawam, nischalatwe Jivanmukti hi. which means;association with Sat leads to non-attachment;non- attachment leads to the removal of illusion;removal of illusion leads to the stilling of the mind;when the mind has become still,it leads to the liberation in the midst of life. namaste cdr bvn

Hari Om, In Vivekachoodamani by Adi Shankara, it is clarified that there is no travel and union etc. It is all an illusion. We are self from the beginning, just we do not realize it. Through a process of mental preparations, in situ, as it were, we can realize ourselves which is our basic and true nature. Pranams. Hari Om, Pl refer the archives postings on June 3rd on Vivek Choodmani. Also a copy is available even in Tamil of this work. The fundamental thesis of Adi Shankara is that "You are the self and realize it through a series of mental preparations like percing 5 sheaths of self-illusion etc". To assume that we are Jivatma and travelling for union with Paramathma etc are not in theory- Advaitin Vedanta. This does not mean they are wrong in what they are doing.
