Guest guest
Namaste! Here's a really nice - and not too long - scholarly article by a real professor on the relationship between Buddhism and Vedanta. Again, he sees more distinction between the two than I do, but this is nevertheless a nice and convenient introduction to the scholarly approach to the subject with much useful information: http://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/bps/wheels/wheel002.html If anybody is interested, I will repeat my simple argument for finding a close relationship between Mahayana and Vedanta. The 'emptiness' of Mahayana means emptiness of conceptual identifications, such as 'I am the body' or 'I am the mind'. This is clearly the same as Advaita. But once these conceptual errors are dissolved, what remains? Only Pure Consciousness. This simply cannot be denied. This is the same as the Atman or Brahman of Vedanta/Advaita. Sorry for being so simple-minded, but it works for me! Om! Benjamin
