This is the famous Samjnana Sukta. Here is a translation by

Shri Kapali Shastry, one of the foremost Sanskrit scholars of his day,

accepted their share of sacrifice. (2)

 

``May your counsel be common, your assembly common,

common the mind, and the thoughts of these united.

A common purpose do I lay before you,

and worship with your common oblation. (3)

 

``Let your aims be common,

and your hearts of one accord,

and all of you be of one mind,

so you may live well together. '' (4)

If Agni was talking to other Gods, then compare this with the Greek

gods, who kept fighting with each other... Did the Vedic Gods ever

fight?

 

Yes, we should read the Vedas. The Gayatri Mantra is from the Vedas,

is it not? Very concentrated inspiration!
