Guest guest
>In the later part of last month's discussions on 'Fate and Free will' I argued the case of free will without much success. Now this >happens >to your emails. May be it is all fate. What is the 'dvaitin' take on this subject - I don't think you had much to say on it so far Dear Venkataraaman, ''bhakti' from vyOma-samhita' did not get posted. That is why I had to enquire about emails. I am sure moderators of this vEdAnta group see a value if someone brings in Veda in understanding 'bhakti'. This is my take on 'fate and freewill'. I was pretty busy with emails on adhyAsa and so did not want to get involved in fate and freewill, because I was not aware of the monthly arrangement of topics at that time. As long as Brahma-sootras are not consulted, our understanding will not be definite. Definiteness of correct knowledge is the necessity for the raise of Brahma-mImAmsA. When jnAna is 'Akulee-bhoota' or convoluted and confusing, that is when Sri VedavyAsa gave us the tools called 'brahma-sootras' in order to straighten them all out. There is a adhikaraNa called 'adhriShTatva' where in the problem of fate and another adhikaraNa called "kartrtva' with more than a dozen sootras in it where in the 'free will' aspects are dealt with. I posted a series of 13 emails on 'kartrtva-adhikaraNa' some years ago in another email group. I can point you to those web pages, if any one is interested. Discussing all of 'Fate and free-will' without a single reference to either of these adhikaraNas, is ofcourse not going to be conclusive, and no definite knowledge is going to emerge from such discussions. That is exactly what has happened here. We have reduced shAstra to 'my beliefs' Vs 'your beliefs'. The samething goes to 'bhakti and jnAna', 'adhyAsa', 'mOksha', 'god realization' or any other topic in vedaanta.
