I've decided that this list is perhaps not the best place to pursue an open-minded and enlightened approach to spirituality, that tries to unite instead of divide. I think I'll just check back as an observer from time to time. By the way, when did any of the moderators say that the month's topic was supposed to monopolize the list? Who is keeping you from ignoring threads you are not interested in? And who is preventing anybody from contributing to the month's topic? I don't see that many contributions to the topic on the list. If I did, I might contribute less myself. Why don't you make a contribution, if only a favorite quotation from scripture? Oh, and are you a moderator? Om! It's no fun sitting around agreeing with everyone all the time. And a little poem from Kabir: III. 9. s'îl santosh sadâ samadrishti HE who is meek and contented., he who has an equal vision, whose mind is filled with the fullness of acceptance and of rest; He who has seen Him and touched Him, he is freed from all fear and trouble. To him the perpetual thought of God is like sandal paste smeared on the body, to him nothing else is delight: His work and his rest are filled with music: he sheds abroad the radiance of love. Kabîr says: "Touch His feet, who is one and indivisible, immutable and peaceful; who fills all vessels to the brim with joy, and whose form is love." - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/sok/index.htm

I have enjoyed your posts very much. However, the topic which arose (Buddhism/Advaita) was hindering thoughts on Bhakti/Jnana, it seems to me, which directly relates to Advaita itself. There are several message boards that are focused on Eastern Traditions in a broader scope(AdvaitaToZen, etc.). On the Homepage of this site it does support the discussion of Buddhism, Jainism, Vedanta, among others. I think it is wonderful to talk about them. However, Bhakti and Jnana is this month's discussion. I don't think there is supposed to be a monopoly topic. But, I think there is good reason to set a topic. It prevents the discussion from going too off track. Maybe you could have illuminated the meaning of Bhakti in the Buddhist tradition and compare it to Advaita. Many have contentions with the comparison of Buddhism to Vedanta. And again, Jnana and Bhakti was this month's intended topic. Nothing is keeping me from ignoring posts which are off topic. I do not have the time to contribute much(as I am a student and do not own a computer). And no, I am not a moderator. I just thought I would comment. Om Shanti, Shishya
