Guest guest
Namaste Sri Ram! >The list had several discussions on this topic and >the following two articles focus on this topic. > >http://www.escribe.com/culture/advaitin/m3849.html >http://www.escribe.com/culture/advaitin/m1396.html The proper kind of tolerance is indeed an excellent virtue. But my idea of tolerance does not include being tolerant of those who are intolerant! Many well meaning people who lead a safe life fall into this trap, especially when they do not take the trouble to get the facts. At the same time, we must not seize on a few facts to overgeneralize. In my opinion and that of many Hindus today, someone like Gandhi, while indeed a saint, was perhaps a bit naive regarding the intentions of certain groups. Sri Aurobindo was far less naive. I think that Sri Aurobindo is a far better example of the true Vedic spirit, like Krishna in the Gita, which combines the highest spirituality with no-nonsense intelligence and integrity and the sense of social responsibility required to defend the Dharma when necessary. India was great when heros like that prevailed. Any nation becomes great when such people lead. Om! Benjamin
