Guest guest
Hello Benjamin, I'm glad you took in good part my crack about you're being an acolyte of the Bishop of Cloyne. I now see that you can swing a thurible with effect. I put that down to a misspent youth. However, I graciously accept incense from whatever quarter it comes. You said: with 'awareness' being the more comprehensive term and 'consciousness' restricted to the subject/object duality, as I said. Likewise 'mind' can refer to all conscious activity or merely to conceptual activity. In general in Philosophy those who focus on awareness would be behaviourist or materialist in tendency. I think of say Gilbert Ryle and his student Daniel Dennett. The latter wrote a book called 'Consciousness Explained' which should have been entitled 'Consciousness Explained Away'. About the subject/object duality. Until recently you were focussing on the relative domain with an idealist analysis, now it seems you have gone absolute. Are you hanging out with metaphysical thimble riggers? (For those not acquainted with carnival gaming, there are 3 thimbles and one pea. The pea is switched from thimble to thimble and the gamblers must guess where it ends up.) Best Wishes, Michael.
