Question on Karma

Namaste to all,

I have one doubt which I would like to get clarified from the learned

members.

It is said that the Karmas we do are just for the purification of our

anthakaraNa. Then what is the purpose of the Karmas we do for our

forefathers after their death? What effect does it have ? In Gita 1.42,

Arjuna is saying that our ancestors will perish if we dont do the Karmas for

them. How does these Karmas help us or our forefathers ? I would like to

know the Advaitic view on the matter. I humbly request the members to shed

some light on this.

JAI SHRI GANESH!!!!!!

Namaste ranjit,

I don't thing i would be able to give any advaitic

view on this..but,but and but i would like to discuss

my strong belief with u.

I personally believe that our karmas directly effects

our forefather and ancestors. I believe that we have a

family even after we die and we mostly remain part of

that family when we take another birth. Its like when

we live life, we r part of two life

one:-our body

second:-our soul(atma)

Atma changes the body when they re-birth.And the work

we do in one birth may effect our life in next birth.

As in we many times c innocent person getting

punishment and crimnal enjoying.I ts all the effect of

"karma".

As u must be knowing these ancestors r known as "pitar

devata".All of us will become a part of them one

day.And i feel if u do bad u yourself become less

powerful and if u do good u yourself become good and

powerful. So u know when u do good u help both your

atma and the atma of our ancestors. And i firmly

believe in this.Even if u r a poor person,but if u

have done everything with honesty and without harming

others u will become strong your ancestor will become

strong. And the life of atma will become better

because of karma done by body.

I tried to give answer logically to u!!!!!

Waiting for comments!!!

Jai Hari Ram!!

Jai Krishna!!

Jai Vaishno Mata!!

Jai Baba Haridas!!

Jai sai baba!!

Jai durga mata!!

Jai shankar bhagwan!!

Jai Hanumanji ki!!

Jai Jai Mahadev!!

Jai Baramah!!

Jai Saraswati Mata!!

Jai surya Bhagwan!!

Jai Pitar devata!!

namaste,

After reading this mail, i have got another doubt. I have heard that the karma

done by our forefathers affect the future generation......that too particularly

that the karma(both good & bad) by our grandparents & parents would have effect

on us......Is this true??......I would be happy to know what has been said about

this in vedas and the member's view on this

regards,

jayaram

Namaste Abbhayji,

Thank you for your explanation. My understanding of the subject matter was the

same as yours till I stepped into the realm of Advaita. But this vanilla version

doesn't go hand in hand with Advaita. So that's why I wanted to know the

Advaitic version. Its unfortunate that Shri Sankaraacharya started his

commentary on Gita from the 2nd chapter onwards..
