I might add this:

 

The most egoistic soul dwells in resentment and bitterness on the

past, which is dead and gone and utterly unreal.

 

The somewhat less egoistic soul is salivating with anticipation over

future enjoyment and/or revenge. The future is *almost* as unreal as

the past.

 

The pure soul dwells in the purity of the present moment, for only in

the present moment can Consciousness be found. The rest of time is

unreal.

Coming back to the quote - there was an article in Physics Today on the

arrogance of physicists. This month there are a number of letters to

the editor on that topic. Interesting to read during lunch time.

 

The topic is physicists' attitudes towards the nature as if they are

unraveling the mysteries of the nature. What is not recognized is that

as one dwells more and more, one recognizes that there are much more to

dwell. Upanishadic student asks a daring question - 'kasminno bhagavo

vij~naate sarvama idam vij~naatam bhavati - Hai bhagavan, please teach

me that knowing which everything is known' Only way to know everything

or to conquer nature - is to be one with it - that is knowing the very

substantive of the whole nature - and that is nothing but sat chit

ananda!

Agreed. Well said. Kind of what I meant to say, but you said it better.

 

By the way, 'nay' is eloquent old Victorian English.

I never said I didn't like Indian English!
