Guest guest
Sorry Ken, 1+1 does not equal 1 in Boolean Algebra, it equals 10 which is equivalent to 2 in the decimal system. This can be seen better in Boolean triples: 001 + 001 = 010 just as 010 + 001 = 011 which is three in the decimal system. In a cyclic unary number system the following pertains ad infinitum: 0 + 0 = 0 0 + 1 = 1 1 + 1 = 0 1 + 0 = 1 Which is illogical when we consider that 0 + 0 = 1 + 1 which would lead us to the conclusion that 0 = 1 and 1 = 0 Very non-mathematical though it may be considered non-metaphysical. advaitin, ken knight <hilken_98@Y...> wrote: > > > Namaste all, > > Following this 'explosion in consciousness of the > group'...sphota.....can we please stop teachers > telling pupils that 1+1=2: > 1+1=1 and ever will unless we wish to live in the > small house of vyashti, ignoring the samashti, > > Oh the joys of teaching Boolean Algebra, great > memories, > > > Ken Knight > > > > SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! > http://sbc.
