Guest guest
Dear Madathil, >From time to time during one's sadhana or as a result of it (an in any case for realized sages, who abide even beyond this glimpse) the mind is sundered from the heart and the "I" abides as unconditioned being, beyond concepts of apace, time, stillness, emptiness, small or large, etc. The sense of being a doer and thinker is non-existent. Then one may notice within the body a multicolored flame coming through the spine and through the top of the head, and an incandescent radiance between the hrdayam (right side of the heart) and crown, with no any remaining vestige of the "I" pulsing as "I" (atma sphurana). Thoughts are seen to percolate up effortlessly from the (spiritual) heart like bubbles rising from the depths of an ocean, reaching the surface consciousness as thoughts, appearing by themselves without a thinker. The mechanism of attention in the mind that exerts a force field around these appearing bubbles grasping them and classifying them, binding them to the "I" consciousness, is also non existent. And yet, the body and mind, now without a motivated principal (ego) continue to act, now in harmony with the universe, even though to the Self Abiding non-doer, beyond the field of pervasiveness, the idea of harmony and disharmony are meaningless. The Mind that sees things before they appear is not the superimposed notional mind derived from a notional "i" identity to rising bubbles of thoughts, but rather the Infinite Mind, of uncaused Being, from which the sense of "I" is denoted. Very interesting discussion indeed, what with the insightful comments offered by Sadaji, Prof. Krishnamurthyji, Michael (although I must confess he was beyond me in certain areas), Tonyji et al and, finally, by Pietersaji. Guest guest
Namaskar, I am sure there are much better explanations than my 0.02 cents worth attempt. But here is what I think : Brahman is only Consciousness is a very popular vakya from the Upanishad. So if the mind is merely viewing things that is has created in the underlying conscious self, then it corroborates this theory to an extent. Science doesn't understand or openly accept consciousness as it cannot be 'measured' . It tries to understand consciousness through materialistic approach. Also, by proving that objects in the senses are already known by the mind, it says that there is an inner self that has already known what it is going to see, hear etc. So it is not controlled by time. Instead it is beyond time. If what will come is known, where is there a past and present ? Regards Guruprasad > How far is this topic relevant to the subject of "brahman"? Can some > one explain?
