Message of the Ramayana

RAMAYANA: Alladi Kuppuswami; Copies available from the author, 3-6-

226/1, Himayatnagar, Hyderabad-500029. Rs.50.

SEVERAL BOOKS on the story of Rama have appeared in English and other

languages and the book under review by the former Chief Justice of

Andhra Pradesh is a fine account of the important portions in simple

but effective words to convey the main message that a man should

adhere to the Law of Dharma.

Among the scores of the translated works of the Ramayana, this

edition will be widely read by the modern generation who need to be

told about India's cultural and spiritual heritage.

A few Sanskrit verses from the story, chosen with care, spell out the

themes handled in the poem, like "character", "fate" and "Truth" and

are very instructive.
