Veera Saivism, Kashmir Saivism and Saiva Siddhanta are the major Saiva systems. There may be others which I dont know. Some Vaishnava systems are in the opinion of some scholars not really original. They borrow heavily from Samkhya, Yoga and Nyaya.
Guest guest
But are not the philosophies of these schools mere variations of school of vedanta that were originally developed by Vaishnavas, for instance Saiva Siddhanta of Dvaita Vedanta? narayana_kl_71 <narayana_kl_71 wrote: advaitin, akka_108 <akka_108> wrote: > Is wonder whether there are philosophical schools of Vedanta >developed by Shaivas or Shaktas. No. Most dualistic philosophies have sAmkhya or yoga as inspiration. Madhva dualism is not the first or the original one. The sAmkhya dualism of Kapila muni is much older. sAmkhya and not dvaita vedanta is the probable inspiration for Saiva siddhanta. Similarly most realistic philosohies have borrowed heavily from nyAya realism. Madhva himself had done that according to some scholars. Madhva has also borrowed from sAmkhya. Moreover Kashmir Saivism and Veera Saivism pre-date Madhva dualism and could not have borrowed anything from it. Btw, Ramanuja's philosophy has been refuted by Sankara 400 years before it developed. Shree Narayana It is news to me. Would you be kind enough to give us where and what aspect specifically Shankara Bhagavat paada refuted Bhagavaan Ramanuja's Philosophy before it was developed. I am really curious to learn the specifics where he refutes the philosophy of VishishhTaadvaita. Hari OM! It should be noted that at the time of shankara all vedantic scholars were unanimous in their opinion that in paramArtha there is only advaita. There is no doctrine of v.advaita nor dvaita siddhanta existed at the time of shankar to refute. > Hari Hari Hari Bol!!! > bhaskar
