Guest guest
Hi All, I have just added a PDF version of F. H. Bradley's 'Appearance and Reality' to my website at www.advaita.org.uk/resources5.htm. It is a large file (1,679k) that I generated from many smaller text files, reformatted in MS Word and used the free pdf995 utility to convert into PDF. Because of this, page numbering in the contents is wrong and there may be a few formatting problems but I think all the text is there and the PDF format is much more readable. For those who do not know, Bradley was one of the British Idealists and is probably the Western Philosopher who comes closest to Advaita in term of his ideas. He is acknowledged as a very good writer (unlike many philosophers!) and was influential with T. S. Eliot, who wrote his Ph.D. thesis on this book. The chapter headings cover: qualities of objects, space and time, motion change and perception, causation, activity, things, meanings of self, reality of self, nature of reality, thought and reality, error, evil, solipsism, nature, body and soul, degrees of truth and reality, goodness, the absolute and its appearances, ultimate doubts. Please not that I am not giving the book my personal recommendation because I haven't yet read it! But it looks very good. Perhaps someone (Greg?) has read it and can comment. Or perhaps someone who is a very fast reader would like to offer their services! It sounds very much the sort of material that Benjamin ought to be interested in actually... Best wishes, Dennis
