Extract from a Ganeshan Satsang at Arunachalla 2002

Dear Friends , I thought you may be interested to read an extract from a talk

that Sri V Ganesan

gave at Arunachala when he refered to Adi Shankara .He is President of the

Ramnana Maharshi

Foundation UK and a former Editor of the Mountain Path and an author on the

Maharshi's

GURU'S GRACE

 

The keenest intellect produced these thousand years is Adi Shankara. He

says he has dealt

with

the world. He was not living in a cave and just writing notes. He travelled, was

very active - he

destroyed sixty-four cults.

He was active in a very positive way, not in a negative way by killing

people. He was

positive

through intellect and convinced them that what they were doing was wrong. If

they needed fame and

name he told them to come as naked sadhus and assured them that the whole world

would worship them

then. To the Hindus a Naga Sadhu is higher than a God. It is not just a naked

man, because the

concept is worshipped not the man himself. How can this be arrived at unless

Shankaraís intellect

was the sharpest and the keenest, and it was that intellect that said of all

knowledge that

Self-knowledge is the only true knowledge, to know the Self? That is why he

wrote Atma Boddha.

Atma Boddha is ecstasy of the Self. Not that I want you to read all of these, I

want to point out

to you, and when I say you, I include myself, the important position you are

holding.

In the golden chain you are the missing link. It is not God who is great,

it is not the

Scriptures, which are great, and it is not the world or its planets, which are

great, none of them

are as great as you are. Not the you ëPeterí, but the ëI amí in Peter, the Self.

The Self in you

is the same in essence, it is the same essence that you find in the Guruís

Grace, the Guruís

guidance and in God,s Grace. Have an experiential acceptance of this. If you

have belief in what

the speaker or Ramana Maharshi says it is of no use, it will merely remain as a

sentence and when

you go back to America it will evaporate. Some other sentence will come into

your brain and occupy

it, so it is useless. But see it with your experience.

The Self in you, the guidance in the Guru ís words and the Grace in this

God are

simultaneous and

true, identical and synonymous , there is no difference at all. Why is this

speaker going on the

past few days emphasising this? We have forgotten the importance that we hold.

That is why there

is ignorance. What is ignorance? Ignorance is denying the importance, which you

rightfully

deserve. You are the Self, you are the God, and you are the Guru's teaching.

When you put the Gurus Teaching into practice God's Grace rushes towards

you. And when you

put

the Guru's guidance into practice, the Truth that is within you, like a natural

spring, gushes

forth and then you will understand God's Grace, Guru's guidance and your inner

core are the same.

That is, you become SILENT. You can become silent only by surrendering the me,

which is Peter,

Ganeshan, John, Susan or Mary.

Surrender and knowledge are simultaneous, the same, no difference at all.

Surrendering the

me, or

Peter, and waking up to the I am in Peter are instantaneous like the bringing in

of the torch. The

flame and the driving out of the darkness are instantaneous; there is no time

gap. There is no

cause and effect. There is no space difference, it is instantaneous, just strike

a match and the

darkness is gone. You understand the silence in you, the truth in you, and you

will understand the

magnanimity of the Master's Guidance. Recognising the Master's guidance whoever

the Master may be.

Wherever guidance comes from is one with the Master. The Master is not a

particular individual.

And when you wake up to the Truth that is within you, Truth that is merely a

silence without the

residue of the me because of the Guru's guidance. The Guru's guidance comes to

you because of

God's Grace. See the link.

God's grace and Guru's guidance will be useless if you shut yourself up

into the prison of

your

mind. This is the other side of the coin and is the negative aspect of the coin.
