Guest guest
Namaste Dear Members! This is my first post other than the introductory comments, but I'm going on vacation tomorrow, and there's no doubt in my mind that I'll use some sort of prayers for a safe journey ... and the prayers, due to my lifelong orientation, will probably seem dualist. What made me think of this was the Beliefnet mailing I just received with a quote from Ramakrishna. Reading the following, I can not imagine that this prayer is addressed to "That" Within: <It is necessary to pray to Him with a longing heart. The kitten knows only how to call its mother, crying, "Mew, mew!" It remains satisfied whenever its mother puts it. And the mother cat puts the kitten sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes on the floor, and sometimes on the bed. When it suffers it cries only, "Mew, mew!" That's all it knows. But as soon as the mother hears this cry, wherever she may be, she comes to the kitchen. -Ramakrishna> I'm going "nomail" this evening, but I will be able to read comments at the public library in the town in which I'm vacationing. Thank you all for your many detailed, generous analyses of Vedanta! Bob Freedman
