Guest guest
Namaste, I hope the following diversion has a bit of spiritual content to it! For a change of pace, it may amuse my fellow Advaitins to read an email I sent to a friend this morning. You may see a disturbing side to my thinking! Please edify me if you feel that I need it. But please also realize that I enjoy talking in a bold and loose way with this friend for the sheer sport of it. By the way, he said that he was in favor of the punishment, because if this man had failed and injured himself, the taxpayer would have had to pay the bill! Note that this man was NOT suicidal. See his smile. Just curious to see the Advaitins' reaction. After all, doesn't Shankara tell us not to attach any importance to this body and life? Benjamin ______ Dear X, What kind of a gutless, unimaginative, bureaucratized, Big Brother nation have we become that we don't applaud the beautiful, daring, reckless, life-defying act of the man who threw himself in the Niagara: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3204103.stm Instead, they are slapping him with a $10,000 fine! What pettiness towards a bold and noble act not fundamentally different from climbing Everest or going to the moon. Ben
