Guest guest
Unfortunately, I won't be able to take the overall lead in the discussion, since I am so very busy here in Tokyo at work - teaching many hours a day and using the rest to prepare, eat and sleep! Also, I have none of Sri Atmananda's works close at hand. I can participate only in a limited way. Ananda has suggested some fine ideas towards an approach to this topic. I've sent him a message hoping he can take the lead and asking if he could write up an intro to get the discussion going. I'll participate when I can, but it might not be as much as in October. Best regards, --Greg

Namaste, Please visit Dennis Waite's web-site: http://www.advaita.org.uk/ and navigate to his 'Book of One, and Ananda Wood's writings on Atmananda (Krishna Menon). Guest guest
Dear Shri Ram Chandran, Very sorry to hear from Greg (Oct 31, message no 19219) that he won't be able to lead a November discussion on Shri Atmananda's teachings. He will be sorely missed. >From my side, I could try to write a series of short postings on the following subjects that Shri Atmananda talked about: 1. Universal and individual -- the 'cosmological' and 'direct' paths 2. The three states -- enquiry from everyday experience. 3. "I am consciousness" ("aham prajnyanam") -- reflection back into the 'I' 4. Witness of thoughts -- change and the changeless 5. All objects point to consciousness -- 'Existence has the chair.' 6. Happiness and peace -- not in objects or the mind, but coming from the real 'I' 7. The background -- where all experiences arise, abide and subside 8. Merging into non-duality -- 'Sleep in consciousness.' The first posting would take a day or two to prepare. It would introduce Shri Atmananda's approach and some questions that he raises for the modern interpretation of advaita philosophy. The following postings would each be made at intervals of two days or so, going on to particular questions of advaita sadhana. Does this sound acceptable? Would be grateful for any comments or suggestions. Perhaps Shri Madathil Nair and Benjamin could help out, as well as Greg when he can spare the time. Meanwhile, I'll start working on the first posting. Ananda
