Guest guest
Namaste: First, let me take this opportunity to thank Sri Ananda Wood you for a stimulating discussions on Atmananda's teachings. His style of presentation and his mastery of advaita philosophy is quite complementary to the on going discussions. We are still in the middle of this interesting topic and I believe that it is not appropriate to move to another topic. I have requested Sri Ananda Wood to continue these discussions and he has kindly agreed to do so. With the upcoming holiday season, these discussions will certainly delight us and help us to take some time for the spiritual refreshment. During my informal email exchange with Sri Ananda, he would love to entetain discussions from members who want to compare Atmananda's teachings with the traditional views expressed through Gita, Upanishads and Shankara's other works. In addition, those who want to present how the modern point of view compares with Atmananda's teachings. I (also Sri Ananda Wood) would request Sarvasri Sadananda, ProfVK, Gummuluru, Sunder, Nair, Greg, Dennis and Benjamin and others to express their point of views on Atmananda's teachings as presented by Sri Ananda. The list originally scheduled a discussion on "Purushartha," for the month of December lead by me. When I tried to prepare my notes on this topic, I realized that this topic is not suitable for a month long discussion. Accordingly, I would post couple of postings during the last week of December and Sri Ananda has indicated that he is likely busy. Let me also provide the following list of discussion topics for the year 2004: 1. srishti-drshti vada of advaita (Doctrine of creation & perception) 2. Naive Realism - the philosophical doctrine that physical object continue to exist when not perceived 3. Perspective of Bhagavad Gita as the Yoga Sastra? 4. Perspective of Bhagavad Gita as the Brahma Vidya? 5. Historical perspective of Shankara's Advaita philosophy 6. Karma and/or karma-phala: what is it and its role in advaita 7. Proper understanding of wake-up/dream/deep-sleep states 8. Vedantic (also Gita's) perception of key to Happiness 9. pUrNamadaH pUrNamidam - Completeness is Changeless 10.AdhyArOpApavAda's role in advaita siddhAnta (Sri Bhasker) 11.Three Vedantic Schools of Thoughts - Similarities and Differences 12.Advaita Vedantic Perspectives Evidenced through Bhagavad Gita Verse Let me take this opportunity to request members to volunteer to lead one of the abve listed topics or any other topic of their choice which falls within the scope of the list. Warmest regards, Ram Chandrn

Dear Ramachandraji, Kindly inclue "Value of Values" (20 Qualifications for a seeker) from the Srimad Bahagwad Geetha, as a topic for one of the month. Actually there are two books which is really thought provoking, written by Swami Dayananda Saraswathi of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Value of Values, and also Emotional Maturity, apart from that there are lot of other Gems from him. Please include these topics also for our discussion.
