The last paragraph of my message about my experience may sound really

bad if read literally...

I said that I had posted my experience because it confirmed what

Buddha and Maharshi said about reality. So what? As if I was some big authority

on spiritual matters. "Oh now its okay, since YOU, FRED, THE GREATEST, HAS

CONFIRMED THAT MAHARSHI, THE COMMONER, WAS RIGHT, NOW WE ARE GOING TO BELIEVE."

Haha. I really am sometimes puzzled at how I can think and write such stupidity

in the middle of bright spiritual insights.....

Sincerely,

Fred

Hello dear Krshnam!

What you said, my friend, exact truth.

Are you interested in Theosophy? My first spiritual interest, some

months before I studied Buddhism and Advaita (and precisely the reason why I

went to study these) was Theosophy. Later I had some interesting experiences

relating to some things that have been written by some authors of the

Theosophical society.

Shanti,

Fred

Namaste, Fred and all

Exactly like you I also use to read the messages but don´t write anything

because I consider my knowledge very poor when compared to

the wise members of this list... But sometimes I have some experiences of

non-dual consciouness and my desire for self realisation is growing day by day.

I feel very happy and fortunate to join this group and I thank all of you for

all your messages and the articles and links you share in the list. I wanted to

have permanent satsang and I think my desire has being fulfilled.

Hello Celine,

Greetings! I think you will find here much more interesting teachings

and experiences since there are such brilliant members here. Always when I read

messages from this forum I feel like it's my home-people. I guess I've lived

some lives in India. And yes I am brazilian. I see by your e-mail adress that

you write from Brazil. Are you brazilian? And where in Brazil do you live?

Best regards,

Hello Krshnam!

I'm not very advanced in terms of experiences. In fact the few

experiences I had happened spontaneously because of being studying with a Guru

for some five years now. If it was not for Him I would not have had any

spiritual insight at all.

Namaste,

I recall reading a book "In Days of Great Peace" by Mouni

Sadhu (M. Sudouski) describing his experiences of meeting Ramaa

Maharshi. He is described as a Portuguese devotee, but I believe he

was from Brazil. His books are listed as follows:

http://www.alibris.com/search/author_search.cfm/Mouni_Sadhu

http://www.ramana-maharshi.org/m_path/1964_3/july_1964_frameset.htm

I think some of his books have been translated into

Portuguese. Would like to hear confirmation from our friends in

Brazil.

Namaste,

Good News for our Brazil friends!

Brazilian Devotees Commemorate A Silver Jubilee

For more than two decades we have had the good fortune of

occasionally meeting, but more often, hearing from members of A Luz

no Caminho-Associacao Espiritualista, a Center dedicated to Sri

Ramana Maharshi in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The president of this

Center, Nelson Lara dos Reis, will invariably visit our New York

Ashrama whenever he travels to the U.S. on business. He called us

from Brazil on the day of their 25th Anniversary celebration and also

visited the Ashrama in New York on July 21. On that day he personally

delivered the following letter:

Dearest Brothers:

The year of 1997 is a very important milestone for Bhagavan Sri

Ramana Maharshi Brazilian devotees. A Luz no Caminho-Associacao

Espiritualista completes twenty-five years of existence.

Daura Silva Franc, after years of work and dedication to the

Arunachala Group in Brazil, finally succeeded in founding an Ashrama

in Rio de Janeiro on May 3rd, 1972. She fulfilled her mission with

forty-nine friends who signed the Articles of Association of A Luz no

Caminho-Associacao Espiritualista.

Since that day, our "House," as we gently call the Ashrama, has been

proclaiming Maharshi's teachings. The Advaita doctrine, through Self-

enquiry (Atma Vichara) as an instrument for realization, is the focus

of our prayers and meetings.

In addition to the Ashrama, our Center also maintains a house to

serve the aged, named "Case de Ramana" (Ramana House for the Old

People). At present, seven elderly ladies reside there.

The preparations for the Silver Jubilee Commemoration of the Ashrama

led us to the recollection and memories of the July 1982 issue of the

Mountain Path magazine. In this issue, the Ramana devotees of the

world were informed of the existence of the Ramana Center in Rio de

Janeiro. This is the reason why we are once more writing to you in

Arunachala Ashrama. We would be glad if through your newsletter we

could share with devotees the happiness of this milestone in the

history of A Luz no Caminho-Associacao Espiritualista.

We pray to Ramana that His Grace may remain with us and that we may

be blessed to commemorate many more 25-year anniversaries.

As our Master praised Lord Arunachala, we devotees in Brazil, fixing

our gaze on his graceful eyes, repeat His verses:

Whoever can find You? The eye of the eye is Thou, that without eyes

can see me, Oh Arunachala!

>From my home Thou have taken me and soon, penetrating into my Heart,

Thou have brought me within Yourself. So great is Thy Grace, Oh

Arunachala!"

Sincerely,

Nelson Lara dos Reis

President

Namaste Sunder,

The book "In days of great peace" and many others were translated to

Portuguese, I have them.

I did not know that Mouni Sadhu was brazilian or portuguese, really.

I loved his books when I read them.

That´s very nice. My indian friend (I could call him my guru but I feel him more

like my spiritual friend) with whom I used to have satsang is going back to

India by the end of this year. But I´ll try my best to continue the meetings

with the other students using some portuguese material to study and discuss.

I´ll also translate some postings of this list for our discussions. Thanks a

lot!

respected fred,

you have found your guru. that itself

is a great attainment. now on, the more you persevere,

the more you will advance.

the guru needed to direct you onwards

on this path, you already have got.

and you already have begun the

journey.

what more can one ask of God!

that way, i am far far below you on

the quest scale.

you are indeed blessed.

Greetings Krshnan,

I feel indeed blessed to have found my Guru. It happened by accident,

almost. Of course there is no such thing as randomness. I feel very blessed to

be able to learn with Him. One year and half after I met Him, my asthma got

completely cured after one meditation with Him. I had suffered of severe asthma

for 18 years, since my present birth. At that meditation he traced back a

previous life in which I had been killed by suffocating poison. I saw that life

with my inner eye, and afterwards I felt incredibly light in my body. I did not

know that my asthma was cured until I asked him and he said that probably my

asthma had gone away because the traumatic memory of that death had been wiped

out of my mental body. Some time later He told me the best path for me was what

He calls the "hammer-stroke path", which is Bhakti. Now my quest is just this:

as my Bhakti to Him increases, my ego is dissolved and I become Him. This is the

deity-practice (Guru-Yoga or Yidam) and this has been my practice for some two

years now.

Search for the Guru who will direct you. Nothing is random! You will

find Him. Just search. I believe all happens in due time. When I met my Guru I

said to Him that I should have met Him 4 years before, because then I would have

avoided some problems I had with my family, but He told me all happens in due

time -- not before, not after. It happens just in the right time.

May the time of your finding your Teacher be near.

Om!

Namaste, Fred

Very good! I don´t know where is the center but I can find out easily. I have

some friends who want to go there also, we can all meet and go together. What do

you think? I´ll send you one private mail to talk more about this, ok?

HARI OM!

Hi Sunder,

Thanks for sharing these good news about Brazil. I´ve never heard about Mouni

Sadhu... I´ll try to know more about him. I´ve heard about this Center dedicated

to Sri Ramana Maharshi but I didn´t know if it was a serious place. Now, after

reading this post, I feel confident to go there and see...
