Namaste Sri Krishnamurthy,

Sublation may be one of those

activities that happens automatically for the normal

subject. Insight has to be worked at.

For instance when sublation takes place this activity

may be as a result of consciousness being subserved by

activity in a different area of the brain from the

image making activity which occurs in dream sleep. I

throw this idea out in a speculative way, I'm probably

wrong but it is a possibility. What is true however

is that many different areas run parallel to each

other to produce the finished product of perception.

What binds all these activities together if you

discard the notion that they are all sent to a central

stage for ajudication. The role of insight is to

offer a solution to the 'binding problem'. Perhaps you

are looking at it in the wrong way. Could it be that

the brain/mind is inert and is pervaded by

consciousness? This is the fundamental insight and

reflecting on it can deepen into realisation.

"The Self is (first) to be realised as existing, and

(then) as It really is. Of these two (aspects), the

real nature of the Self that has been known as merely

existing, becomes favourably disposed (for self-

revelation).

Best Wishes, Michael.

Namaste Michaelji,

Look at the following example. A mango gives different experiences

to different sense-organs – taste for the tongue, smell for the

nose, form for the eyes, touch for the skin. But the mango is the

same. Something in our brain puts all these things together and

gives us the holistic image of a mango. Is it some neural activity

in our brain or is it something beyond? Is it your 'central stage

for adjudication'? Is it the 'Insight? Is it Consciousness?

Is this question answerable?

PraNAms to all advaitins.
