Guest guest
Dear Krishna, That´s a very good question! I think if we can answer that with total understanding we can get instant self realisation. What I think is that I am what I am (Brahman) all the time, but I identify my Self with the intellect and the intellect thinks it´s the Self. Please, correct me if I´m wrong. Guest guest
Shree Krishna Prasad Intellect is considered as inert. It is 'I', the self or Brahman, identifying with the intellect thinks that I am the intellect that thinks! that I am the body, I am not the mind and I am the intellect - essentially I, the self, is the non-self. If you want to go further, in principle, I do not think either - to view this correctly; intellect in my presence or president-ship thinks. Not only it thinks of objects and thinks that subject is separate from the objects as well as subject is locussed in the object (body, mind and intellect). If I have confused you enough, then it is a true state of affairs since 'the apparent self' or ego is only confused notions of oneself arising in the intellect. The notions are in the mind(intellect) and realization is only dropping those notions in the mind by the mind. Meditation is by the mind to inquire what is this mind or notions and rejecting all wrong notions. I - identified with the mind take the notions as my notions. When the mind drops notions and realizes the truth that I am beyond the notions of he mind too and I am total self, the Brahman. Hence it is self-realization and involves purging of all the notions of the intellect about one-self! Hari OM! Guest guest
Celine - what I said in many words you could say in few words. Thanks. Yes Brahman, I, does not need realization. I, who think that I am the intellect, also thinks that I am bound, needs to realize that I was never bound. Someone asked me in my class as If I am not this and not this - who realizes. The simplest answer is the one who is asking the question realizes that I am ever free. These are all play of the mind due to ignorance of the true nature of oneself. Who has the ignorance, the one which he is limited. Who thinks - we are back to the first question. Hari OM! Guest guest
Hi Sadananda, Yes. The Truth is so simple but due to ignorance the intellect creates a lot of confusion about everything. I´d like to mention two quotes I took from www.ajati.com, which can illustrate this point very well: Realization is nothing to be gained afresh; it is already there. All that is necessary is to get rid of the thought "I have not realized". and Trying to understand is like trying to see through muddy water. Be still and allow the mud to settle. Hari Om!
