Guest guest
Hi Greg, This is the post Dennis sent about the books. My favourite is the one by Swami Nityaswarupananda, from Advaita Ashrama. Excellent short commentaries and it also has the Sanskrit (devanaagarii) and word by word translation. I must admit I still haven't seen Ramesh Balsekar's version though 'Duet of One' and suspect that this will be very good. There is also the poetic translation by Byrom, downloadable for free. Links to all these from my website - www.advaita.org.uk/classical.htm I checked the web site and liked a lot. Now I´m enjoying the Ashtavakra Gita translated by John Richards... I´m still ruminating on the first answer of Ashtavakra to Janaka´s quest. But I´m taking note of these books recommended by you so that I can read them after finish this one or indicate to someone that might ask. It's a bit on the scholarly side, rather than the new-agey feel-good side. But it has the best bibliography and pointers for further exploration I've ever seen in print. It's also the only book I know of that covers both the orthodox and the neo traditions. Dennis's style is very humble and humane as well! --Greg Mail - 6MB, anti-spam e antivírus gratuito.
