Date of Yoga Vashishta (without any comment on BSB)

Dear Benjamin,

 

It seems Dr. Atreya was aware of the other much later date suggested for Yoga

Vashishta. In fact he commences his 5 pages of arguments thus:

 

"The few modern scholars who have written anything about the date of Yoga

Vashishta , have placed it at a very late date. Dr. J.N. Furquhar thinks that it

was composed in the 13th or 14th century (Religious Literature of India, P.

228). Prof. Shiva Prasad Bhattacharya thinks that it was composed in the 10th to

12th centuries (The Proceedings of the Madras Oriental Conference, P. 554). Such

a view cannot be accepted for the following reasons:-"
