Guest guest
Namaste, It appears that I started some discussion on lineages and so forth by calling Nisargadatta an Advaitin. Reading about this is actually rather interesting to an American. For example, by checking Gregji's link, I learned about Sringeri, which has an unbroken lineage all the way back to Shankara, as you can see at http://www.sringeri.org/guru-par.htm Lineage does matter, I suppose, in order to give authenticity to the teachings. On the other hand, in a free society, different spiritual teachers and professors can say what they wish, and the reader simply makes up his mind, as always. I say, the more the merrier. Let us have monasteries, universities and free-lance seekers and saints all studying Advaita. They can complement each other, and we are ultimately responsible for how we use our brains. Regarding Nisargadatta, I just want to say that he was highly recommended to me by Sadanandaji of this list. I guess Sadaji can speak for himself, but I don't want people to think that I pulled Nisargadatta out of a hat. Hari Om! Benjamin
