Guest guest
Namaste, I should really send this in February, when we discuss Jnaneshwar's Amrita Anubhava, but I'm afraid I might forget. It is a good article on the famous poets of Maharashtra: The Mystic Poets of Maharashtra http://www.sol.com.au/kor/9_03.htm See also http://www.sanathanadharma.com/articles/bhakti.htm Apparently, these poets were especially good at combining advaita with bhakti, and in general in seeing nonduality in duality, i.e. in everyday life. There was also an egalitarian struggle against caste domination, and they spoke in their own Marathi language (instead of Sanskrit). All this makes their poetry simple, sincere, concrete and vivid. I was especially struck by this line by Eknath: "When I bathe in the river the water is liquid consciousness!" Now that is exactly how I understood a certain dreaded i-word. Let's leave it at this. Guest guest
Namste Benji. Nice to see you get out of that idealism outfit and going poetic. Don't stop at being liquid consciousness. Be coffee, tea and all the other things of life, including the *dreaded i-word*, when 'you' are never any more, like the sugar dissolved in your coffee. That is advaita and you got it right with Eknath. Promise you more of it when I get to replying Anandaji and later with the pUrNamatha... discussion scheduled for March. PraNAms.
