Guest guest
friends, from today in tamilnadu, the chanting of thirupalliyezuchi starts. this was composed by manikkavachagar on lord shiva. Personification of bliss CHENNAI JAN.5 . The objective of human birth is Self-realisation, which puts an end to rebirths. To achieve this end it is necessary to be devoted to God and remember Him constantly while engaged in day-to-day activities. A person will develop devotion only if he had earned merit by performing good deeds in his previous lives. Likewise, an individual takes to spiritual life and strives to realise the Self due to the tendency acquired by engaging in devotional acts and study of scriptures in an earlier birth. In his discourse, Sri B.Sundar Kumar said inclination for spiritual life was only due to Divine grace and one of the methods to elicit it was by recitation of hymns in praise of the different deities. A hymn recommended for daily prayer, which is capable of enhancing devotion and also enables the aspirant to progress spiritually, is Sri Rudram. Both devotees and monks peruse it as it is a devotional tool and also aids meditation. Sacrifices are conducted by chanting this hymn for which there are certain prescribed procedures because it occurs in the Vedas unlike hymns in praise of other deities which usually are in the Puranas and the epics. The Sri Rudram embodies 300 names of Lord Siva and hence is a Trisati. It is part of the Taittiriya Samhita of the Krishna Yajur Veda and also called Namakam because each name begins with the appellation "Namah". The names, by which Siva is addressed in this hymn, encompass all life forms in creation and thus indicate that the Lord indwells in every being. Siva literally means auspiciousness and Nataraja is the personification of bliss. Dakshinamurti is the form in which He imparts spiritual knowledge. The primordial sound, Om, emanated from Siva and Saint Thyagaraja in one of his compositions refers to Parameswara as the essence of the Vedas. So He is the presiding deity of music. The seven notes of music emerged from the five faces of Siva (the two notes "Sa" and "Pa" being basic) when Nataraja danced out of ecstasy. The devotee certainly will be eager to know the benefit of reciting the Sri Rudram. As the forms of Lord Siva, Nataraja and Dakshinamurti, face south and this direction associated with Yama, recitation of this hymn is believed to remove the fear of death, which every living being has. Lord Siva destroys evil and bestows the bliss of Self-realisation on one who propitiates Him by chanting this hymn. copy right: The Hindu daily ______________________ Messenger - Communicate instantly..."Ping" your friends today!
