Guest guest
Many Pranams to all The 'Kaupina Attachment' seems to be picking up a lot of interest.. thanks to Yaduji's humorous twist!. I am reminded of a Great Tamil Poet Saint called Pattinathar who used to take his alms in a earthen (?) bowl called 'Thirvodu'. He got disgusted with his attachment to it and threw it away one day. He started taking alms in his hands directly. One night as he was resting in a mutt a weary wafarer came and enquired if he could get some food. Pattinatthar pointed a fellow saint to him and told him ' Got o him... he is infinitely richer than me and is man of great means'. The fellow saint, slightly piqued asked Pattinatthar as to why he said that as he himself is a complete renunciate. Pattinatthar seems to have told him ' from my stand point , you with your nice looking thiruvodu are definitely a man of infinitely higher means'. The fellow saint took the hint and threw his thiruvodu also away. Sometimes I think our great saints make a great show of getting rid of their *last vestiges of attachment*, more for the benefit of semi - pakkvi souls who try to analyse their every act.. they are well established in the renounced state, kaupeenam or not. I doubt how many of here in India are attached to the kaupina. I know Langoti is the most comfortable and suitable wear and cannot be replaced by any modern wears. Furthermore, it is also very cheap. > We use it during our pilgrimage to Sabarimala and in fact I used to distribute many kaupinas to co-pilgrims. > Your interpretation of "sanyasa" from different angles is excellent.
