Guest guest
dear all, once a devotee went to Satya Sai Baba and said " Baba ! I want peace." Baba replied, " remove the I and the Want, What is left is Peace.".' enjoy!! ********************************************************************** yasya deve para bhaktir yatha-deve tatha gurau tasyaite kathita hy arthah prakasante mahatmanah Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord (DEVI)and the spiritual master (GURU) are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed." Guest guest
advaitin, "adi_shakthi16" <adi_shakthi16> wrote: (in a footnote): > yasya deve parA bhaktir > yathA deve tathA gurau > tasyaite kathitA-hy-arthah > prakAshante mahAtmanah > > Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord > (DEVI)and the spiritual master (GURU) are all the imports of Vedic > knowledge automatically revealed." (Svetasvatara Upanisad ) > Namaste This shloka has a further powerful meaning if you write it as: yasya deve parA bhaktir yathA deve tathA gurau tasyaite'kathitA-hy-arthah prakAshante mahAtmanah It depends on how you break between "ete" and "kathitAH" (=expressed). As has been done above the two words are "ete" and "akathitAH" (=not expressed). Now the full meaning is: Only unto those great souls who have implicit Faith in both the Lord (Devi) and the Guru are all the unexpressed imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed. !!! Guest guest
Namaste In the previous post of mine I forgot to add that the wonderful meaning given to the Svetasvatopanishad shloka "yasya deve .." is not mine and that I got it from my father who ascribed it to his Guru Shri Vasudeva Brahmendra Saraswati of Ganapati Agraharam. PraNAms to all advaitins profvk
Guest guest
thank you professorji! it is always great to know the real meaning of every vedic verse from a scholar! Your father is indeed fortunate to have learned the real meaning of this verse from his guru, Shri Vasudeva Brahmendra Saraswati of Ganapati Agraharam. on this day of guru, let me quote another verse... na medhaya na bahuna srutena yam evaisa vrnute tena labhyas tasyaisa atma vivrute tanum svam The Supreme Self can never be known by argument, reasoning, intelligence, or scholarship. The finite can never know the infinite. By His own sweet will, however, the Infinite may reveal Himself to the finite in His personal divine form. Those who wish to know the infinite must therefore submit to him through surrender. (Katha Upanisad 1.2.23) I therefore surrender to the lotus feet of guru who manifests in different forms through great souls like you, professorji! salutations ! janana-maranadi-samsaranala-
