Guest guest
On the Whole, the maharishi did not approve of vows of Silence. If the mind is controlled, useless speech will be avoided, but abjuring speech will not quiten the mind. The effect cannot produce the cause. disciple:Isn't vow of silence helpful? Bhagwan: A vow is only a VOW. It may help meditation to some extent, but what is the use of keeping the mouth shut and letting the mind run too? If the mind is engazed in meditation, what need is there for speech? Nothing is as good as meditation. What is the use of a vow of silence if one is engrossed in activity? ********************************************************************** from the teachings of Ramana Maharishi in His own words by Arthur Osborne Ko ham? who am I ? naham deham! I am not this body! SO HAM! I AM *THAT* Aum sri ramanaya namaha!
