Guest guest
THE great Saint , philosopher , poet and Jagadguru Adi Shankara Bhagvadpada grouped the various forms of devotional worship in Hinduism into six sects , known as Shanmathas. They are: Ganapathyam .. The devotion to Lord Ganesha. Saivam .. The devotion of Lord Siva. Vaishnavam .. The devotion to Lord Vishnu. Sauram .. The devotion to the Sun God. Shaktham .. The devotion to Sri Shakti (Ambika) Kaumaram .. The devotion to Lord Skanda (Lord Murugan) *Gãnapathyam In Ganapathyam, Ganesha , the elephant headed deity is worshipped as the Ultimate Reality. Lord GANESHA is worshipped at the beginning of all undertakings as He is the remover of all obstacles. He is also called Vigneshwera , the one who presides over all obstacles. Most Hindus worship Ganesha along with other deities but followers of Ganapathyam worship Lord Ganapathi exclusively as the form of uktimate reality ( nirguna brahman) . Ganesha is the First son pf the Divine Couple Parvati Devi and LORD shiva. Join me in offering a prayer to Lord GANESHA before we discuss Lord ganesha and other deities in the Hindu Pantheon. Shuklaambara Dharam Vishnum Shashi Varnam Chatur Bhujam Prasanna Vadanam Dhyaayet Sarva Vighna Upashaanthaye We meditate on Lord Ganesha - who is clad in white (representing purity), who is all pervading (present everywhere), whose complexion is gray like that of ash (glowing with spiritual splendor), who has four arms, who has bright countenance (depicting inner calm and happiness) and who can destroy all obstacles (in our spiritual and worldly path). ********************************************************************** I leave the floor now wide open to all devotees here in this divine forum to come forward and share their thoughts on Lord Ganesha, his legend, his icon and his tattwa. Aum shri Ganeshaya namaha ! aUM GAM ganapathaye Namaha !
