Thank you Mani-ji for quoting this verse from Adi shankara's Baja

Govindam stotra -

"Satsangatwe nissangatwam

nissangatwe nirmohtawam

nirmohatwe nischala tatwam"

Thank you Mani0ji for this timely reminder...

Here is the full text with English translation for those of us who

are not familiar with the Sanskrit Language ...

satsangatwe nissangatwam,

nissangatwe nirmohatwam,

nirmohatwe nischalatatwam,

nischalatatwe jeevanmukthih.

"The company of the good takes one away from false atttachments;

When attachment is lost, delusion ends;

When delusion ends, the mind becomes steady;

>From steady mind comes liberation even in this life."

This is the literal meaning.

now. i would like to ask members here what is meant by the company of

the *Good* ?

meanwhile, on this Thursday dedicated to the Guru, let me share

another lovely verse on "Sat-SANGATI"

Kalpa Dhru mah kalpitam eva sute

kamadhu ku kamitam eva do gid

chintamani chintitam eva date satam tu

sam gha sakalam prasute

The kalpavR^iksha (the celestial tree) produces only what you can

imagine, The kAmadhenu (the celestial cow) milks only what you want.

The chintAmaNi (the gem of gems) give you only what you have

thoughtabout. However good company produces everything. (Its

benefits are not limited by your thoughts desires or imagination!

now, if you sit in the company of One Person who has realized

the "Truth" , that itself is the best form of 'Satsangati' ... So,

the Four disciples who sat With Guru Dakshinamurthy were in real

satsangati!

ON THIS DAY dedicated to Guru, let us honor Guru Dakshinamurthy by

remebering Him through this verse ...from Adi Shankara's Sri

Dakshinamurthy STOTRA ...

vishvaM darpaNadR^ishyamaananagariitulyaM nijaantargataM

pashyannaatmani maayayaa bahirivod.hbhuutaM yadaa nidrayaa .

yaH saakshaatkurute prabodhasamaye svaatmaanamevaadvayaM

tasmai shriigurumuurtaye nama idaM shriidakshiNaamuurtaye .. 1..

}

The universe is the reflection of a mirror. The Truth is the supreme

Brahman, the one without a second. The mind, senses and intellect are

all able to only discern the reflection of the Atman. The

identity of the brahman and the Atman is apparent after self-

illumination. I offer my profound salutations to the auspicious Guru,

who is an embodiment of Dakshinamurti, and whose grace is responsible

for the illumination.

salutations to the guru of all gurus, shri Dakshinamurthy!
