Guest guest
Namaste dear Harshaji: Thanks for the clarification and let me further clarify Swamiji's comments. The Arsha Vidya Gurukulam established by Swamiji does provide guided meditation on a regular basis. Meditation is an integral part of Advaitic Instituitions like Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. What Swamiji objects to is not meditation but he seems to be critical of 'a specific attitude' towards meditation. Those who seeks meditation as a means of just having a 'good time' like watching a movie or drinking a cup of coffee, etc. Those who participate in meditation with such an attitude will certainly have 'good time' for a short duration, but they have to face the world of duality again! This is being explained beautifully by Swamiji in his profound statement: "Duality is seen as something from which one must escape. But escape by means of experience is false freedom. You, the limited being, and this world, which limits you, are always waiting when the experience is over." We all know that neither Ramana Maharishi or Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had the attiude objected by Swamiji. Swamiji has the greatest regard for both those sages and he has expressed that during many of his discourses. Warmest regards, Ram Chandran advaitin, wrote: > Dear Sri Ramji: > > I do not know Sri Dayananda Swami and have never heard him speak. I apologize if my comments about Swamiji's statements containing half- truths offended anyone. > > Many of our sages and scriptures do place a high regard on meditation, various samadhis, and finally nirvikalpa samadhi and the sahaj state. ]
