Dearest members !

I love this group ; all the members here are so advanced spiritually

and well versed in Shankara's bhasyams and other advaitic texts .

This is wonderful - but i feel so 'ignoranrt'' sometimes in the midst

of all of you ! Like Totaka, for instance! but i love and adore

Shankara just like all of you , may be more ! it is a woman who

knows how to serve her master hand and foot with 'devotion' in a true

mode of 'dasya'bhava ! One of these days , Shankara Bhagvadapada

will open my "ajna chakra" and i am sure i can see the 'divine' with

my eyes closed! After all, Surdas , the blind saint poet, saw

visions of lord krishna , which people with sight could not see !!

In Brindavan, there is a temple dedicated to Shyamasundara (lord

krishana) ! an older woman devotee used to come to visit Lord

krishna everyday and bring krishna's favorite sweet and offer it to

the lord. One day, she failed to turn up! AND SURE ENOUGH OUR

BELOVED MADANMOHANA was woebegone ! He just did not know how to

handle this? So, he quietly sneaked out and left the temple by the

backdoor to see his greatest devotee in her own home! on reaching

there , he found that the old woman was 'ill '! on seeing her beloved

Shyamasundara , her face lit up with a splendor of Thousand suns! OUR

Murali Manohars says to the elderly lady" Maaji! i missed your

sweets, so i came here to take my offering." THis brought tears to

the old lady's eyes and she asked her daughter-in-law to give

YASODHANANDANA HIS FAVORITE SWEET! Our nandalala blessed the Lady and

headed towards the temple !

When the priest opened the curtain housing the deity of Lord

KrishnA , he found "shyama sundara'" missing !!! The priest was

embarassed to say the least and quickly closed the curtain and

apologised to the assembled devotees and requested them to come

another day! To this day, if you go around noon time, the curtian

will be closed and you cannot have darshan of our lord and master

Krishna, the ALL ATTRACTIVE ONE!

In closing, here is verse to celebrate this raga-anuragha bjakti for

Krishna paramatma , the very emodiment of "PURNAMIDAM.......

Shankara bhagvadapada sings in Krishnashtakam

guNAkaraM sukhAkaraM kRpAkaraM kRpAparaM

suradviSannikandanaM namAmi gopanandanam

navInagopanAgaraM navInakelilampaTaM

namAmi meghasundaraM taDitprabhAlasatpaTaM (6)

My sweet Lord Krishna is the repository of all Divine

attributes, transcendental bliss, and Supreme grace.

He is the powerful destroyer of the enemies of the heavenly gods

and source of immense delight to the cowherds of Vrindavana.

I bow down to the mischievous cowherd boy, Krishna,

Who is eagerly attached to His ever blissful exploits,

which appear with fresh and new charm every day.

His handsome complexion resembles the dark rainy cloud,

while His attire of yellow silken garment,

pItAmbara, shines like lightning.

Jaya Sri RadhA Krishna !

Here is my understanding:

Ignorance is the cause for creation – it is in the sense that ignorance

of the rope is the cause for projection of a snake. Projection or

creation is not done by ignorance - hence ignorance is neither material

nor intelligent cause for creation. From vyavahaarika - Iswara becomes

creative power - and material cause is also him - viswam vishnu

vashatkaaro.. In that sense Brahman is the cause for creation - although

from Brahman point there is no creation.

Creation by definition has to be infinite - hence puurnam idam.

Jnaani realizes that everything is nothing but Brahman that is himself -

sarva bhutastam aaatmanam sarva bhutaanica aatmani. Himself in

everything and everything in himself. No more avidya for him.

At the microcosmic level - that is when Jnaani using the local

equipments of Body, mind and intellect- he does perceive the world out

there - plurality is there but he has no more delusion that the

plurality out there is a realty, from the point of essence that is

his-self or himself. He can operate at vyavahaarika level even though

he knows that everything is in Him - just as Krishna did. Perception is

being done by the microcosmic equipments –BMI which are within the

creation and hence plurality is inevitable.

Yet, he has the realization that sarvam idam is Brahman only that is

himself- and from Brahman point it is nirguNa. Since GuNa-s are

distinguishing features of prakriti - and he does differentiates the

objects for transactional purposes as he perceives the GuNa-s. But He

does not take them as real but only as superimpositions like the GuNa-s

of different ornaments that do not belong to Gold, the substratum.

Yes, it is realization of oneness in the plurality. That is the wisdom

of a jnaani and that oneness is Him - It is realization and not negation

- the negation is only from the understanding point.

Duality is not a problem but taking duality as reality is the problem

and there lies ajnaana - Absence of ajnaana at local level is absense of

delusion. At global level, ajaana becomes maya and His glory.

Thank you Sir for putting into such easy words what I was struggling

to express.
