Re: Guruvayurappan.....

Namaste, Adi Shakti-ji

Thanks for bringing in the wonderful stories of Guruvayurappan. The

three verses you have translated from Narayaneeyam are the most

famous ones from Bhattatiri's monumental replica of the Bhagavatam.

Two years ago I had commented on 36 shlokas from Narayaneeyam in

the advaitin list. The portions corresponding to these three shlokas

can be seen in

http://www.escribe.com/culture/advaitin/m15062.html

and

http://www.escribe.com/culture/advaitin/m15079.html

PraNAms to all devotees of Guruvayurappan.

tHANK YOU PROFESSORJI !

i luv the way you give us all these references to great bhakti

literature !

thank you!

professorji!

there is a sanskrit sloka that goes like this

Adhigatya Guroh jnanam chatrebhyo

vitaranti ye vidhya vatsalya

nidhya shikshaka mama daivatam!

The teachers who distribute knowledge among the students after

receiving it from their gurus, and who are storehouses of love and

knowledge, are indeed like God to me.

Acharya devo bhavaha!

We are definitely going to miss you professorji in this and other

groups !

NAMASHKAR !

Namaste

In continuation of the above, let me say that for the benefit of

those who may not have the time and/or patience to wade through the

commentaries on all the 36 shlokas of my selection, there is a

summary presented under the title:

"Devotion vis-a-vis Non-duality, a la Narayaneeyam" in

http://www.geocities.com/profvk/gohitvip/78.html

PraNAms to all devotees of Guruvayoorappan

Namaste,

Sri Ramakrishna used to describe the Bhagavata Purana as a

sweet dish of 'Rasagolla' ! "Balls of Advaita-Jnana floating in the

Syrup of Bhakti".

Sunder
