Guest guest
Vedas play crucial role CHENNAI, MAY 13. Given the opportunity most people would like to raise questions about the deeper meaning of existence. Anyone interested in spiritual advancement will seek to know the purpose of life. Youngsters, in particular, are wont to ask questions such as ``Why should I? Why should one do a particular thing in a specific manner only?'' Often such queries are expressions of a logical consistency in seeking to know the ultimate truth. In a discourse, Swami Paramananda Bharathi said that human beings should all not just eat, sleep but lead a purposeful life. The craving for material things ought to be reversed. Instead, one should strive towards liberation. The starting point is to know what to do with one's life. One may ask about the reason for creation? An oft-repeated question is ``How do we know God created everything?" God is responsible for creating all that for which we are not responsible. The Vedas are the greatest science and contain all the answers that a seeker needs. The Vedas play the two most crucial roles that are necessary for humanity — what we should know and what we should do. Despite their vastness and depth, the Vedas are without contradictions of any kind whatsoever. If we follow the injunctions enshrined in them, life will be beautiful. It is not always easy to do so, though. For example, Ravana was well-versed in the Vedas and a pious man too, yet given to untold cruelty which goes against the tenets of the teachings. Demons have dogged mankind from time immemorial and the earliest examples are ogres who actively sought to disrupt yagnas. Then there is the strain of apathy which infects those who do not fall into either of these categories. Scholars say that a feeling of ennui affected people even thousands of years ago, at the time of the Mahabharatha. However, religion is a matter of opinion, and often after a period of impasse a surging pride acts as a force of rejuvenation of matters spiritual. According to a scholar, the Vedas have survived for millennia because the Saptha Rishis remember them through each creation. They are genetic to our land, and will continue to wield the correct influence on the seekers. What are the ways in which one can lead a meaningful life? It is enough if one were to start small, like learning short verses and reciting them with diligence and faith. For, God's grace and man's effort are the two wheels which work in tandem in one's spiritual journey. copy right: The Hindu-daily __________ Messenger - Communicate instantly..."Ping" your friends today!
