Guest guest
Namaste: It seems someone is using Madhathil Nair's Id to send a message to the list. Message from the intruder is being currently under watch. I just want to alert all of us that with the modern technology, such misrepresentations are possible and we should learn to protect our selves. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding Ram Chandran Note: Such advertisements can pass through the system, but not too many times!! Guest guest
Members please note: I am sending this message to the list because all members need to become aware of 'spam' generators who are very talented and go to any level to send their messages. By protecting your email address along with the password, you will be implicitly protecting the list from receiving inappropriate messages. Namaste Nairji: There are number of possibilities for the problem. 1. someone got access to your password and accessed it to send the message. You should change your password (use combination of letters and numbers longer in length). Also complain to about what happened. 2. your password and username is permanantly stored in cookies and someone used your computer when you were away. 3. someone got access to your computer - you need a fire-wall to stop that. Your email address will be moderated for sometime until your problems are sorted out. regards, Ram Chandran > My God! This is spam. I didn't send it! Is it a virus? Guest guest
Namaste. Is is pretty unfortunate that spammers are stooping down to this level to post their advertisements. Shree NairJi - I would suggest that, please check in every newsgroup that you are member of, for such a message. To the moderators :- There may be a method with -list-server to check for such spam mails in an automated way by defining some rules of what constitutes spam. Today it came from Shree Nair's id. Tomorrow it may come from anyone's Id. In addition to Shree Ram's 3 possibilities, there is also a fourth one:- (4) Spam mails are generated from offending mail-servers as if coming from an innocent person. In the interim time, may I suggest the following as a workaround:- For every posting, let there be a keyword placed by the author in the beginning of the subject-line which will help us all identify that it is a genuine message. The keyword could be any word which all of us recognize such as 'Maya' or 'Advaita'. By the way, is there any other keyword ? :-) For example, for a subject line of 'Reincarnation', it will be modified by the author as 'Maya:Reincarnation'.
