Guest guest
Yaduji , Btw , your posts are very interesting and i , for one, learn so much from your insights. UI enjoy the 'humor as well. You write (I have realized that there are two things in this world that no matter how or where one tends to pick them up. 1. Money 2. Kisses. Because of the vastness of the subject matter, the subject, the observer (dnyaataa, dnyneya, & dnyana) are all encompessd in that "maayaa". To make the matter more difficult it we are looking at that reflection and then trying to reflect "our own" impressions on it. Thank God for Kisses, otherwise we may have to kiss the maayaa good- bye !!) Not so soon! Dear Yaduji ! Only with the advent of MAYA ,will we be able to transcend 'duality' otherwise we will be like ants 'eating' sugar but cannot become 'sugar' ! what is Maya ? Miyate anena iti Maya. Maya is that by which forms are measured or limited. The devotee Kamalakanta lucidly and concisely calls Maya, the form of the Formless (Shunyasya akara iti Maya). The Kaulacarya Sadananda says in his commentary on the 4th Mantra of Isopanishad (Ed. A. Avalon): "The changeless Brahman, which is consciousness appears in creation as Maya which is Brahman, (Brahmamayi), consciousness (Cidrupini) holding in Herself unbeginning (Anadi) Karmik tendencies (Karmasamskara) in the form of the three Gunas. Hence, She is Gunamayi, despite being Cinmayi. As there is no second principle these Gunas are Cit-Shakti." The Supreme Devi is thus Prakashavimarshasya-rupini, or the union of Prakasha and Vimarsha. courtesy-Arthur Avalon so, please don't push 'maya' away! Guest guest
Dear Adi-Ji: No one can push the maaya away, because you as an individual is encompessed in thst as well. Ultimately it is all advitaa. It is unfortunate that we try and keep it separated. Although, sush separation is indeed necessary to gain proper understadnig. Therefore, knowing this - dnytvaa devama uccate sarva paashyaiH The valli you have quoted in your pervious post from kaThopaniShada must be understood and read in context of the previous valli 2.1.5 - thru - 9. As you will see all of them end with - etadvi tat (Meaning - this is that). Here what is being explained is the fundamental principle of brahma. Detail discussion will be a diversion from this month's topic therefore I will not go into it, but I will be happy to disscuss with individual interested members as the time permits. The valli 2.1.8 you quoted has two other terms that need understanding, which are not completely explained by Gambhirananda. (haviShmad; and iiDayo jagravad ). In the previous valli it gives the introduction of the concept of "aditi". This also need to be placed into the context to gain proper comprehension. In modern terms one has a car and you add gasoline for it to run. So these two things are the "araNi". However, for that car to move (become alive) it needs the most important element of ignition. That is what then becomes the brahma , on which that expansion was based upon. This is principle is best represented in the biochemistry of individual cells. Mytochondira, the power house of our cells contains fat, it is brought to the surface by what is know as a carnitine shuttle. Once that fat is available for burning the ignition happens via Coenzyme Q (spark plugs).. It is mind boggling that these tiny cells generate enough energy to maintain our body temperature at 98.4 deg F. Although all the elements for energy are present in the dead cells but this production of energy only occurs in the lining, and that is brahma (etadvi tat ). I will try to elaborate other points as we go along with my little understanding. Regards, Dr. Yadu =================================== > so, please don't push 'maya' away!
