Guest guest
Hello Benjamin, Reading the little bit of bio on Joad reminded me of the way Indian sadhus used to use the railways without the benefit of ticket in their perambulations to shrines (perferroviations perhaps). Anyway one of them later became famous under the style and title of Neem Karoli Baba thus called after a railway station on to whose platform he was ejected being found without a ticket by punctilious infidel inspector. The train made to go off again without him but coal as they might there was no movement, the wheels just spun. Finally the passengers said 'Until you let him on again we'll never get out of here'. Which they did and off they went. You will perhaps recall Ram Dass' guru in 'Be Here Now' - that was Neem Karoli Baba. Nityananda was once asked for a ticket. He replied 'How many do you want? and proceeded to materialise number of First Class Tickets. Papa Ramdas of Ananda Ashram used the railways freely. He so admits in his book God-Experience speaking of himself in the third person as Ramdas - "During this time Ramdas was going from place to place by railway train without tickets'. Best Wishes, Michael
