Cosmic Dance - Meghai-rmeduram-ambaram (Jayadeva)

In a forest by the side of the Yamuna banks,

During the twilight hours of a rainy evening,

When Clouds above are fast becoming dark and

Leaves of trees are rhythmically dancing

To a tune of gentle breeze of familiar melody,

 

Someone is lost and cannot find his way back home !

So feared Nanda,

who knew little and

Thought Paramatma could be lost.

 

The more mischievous Paramatma, however,

Makes the forest itself his home,

Dancing away with forest-dwellers.

 

Surrounded by Maya, Maya, and more Maya,

Paramatma dances with each Maya until

Each Maya thinks the whole

Immanent Paramatma belongs to no-one else.

 

Maya dissolves in Paramatma

And the Karma-yogi dances blissfully

Maya separates from the Paramatma

And the cosmic dance goes on !
