Thank you for introducing The French Philosopher Rene Descartes to

this audience.

Yes! Descartes o gave to the World the famous dictum

"I think therefore I exist" (cogitio, erogo sum)

YES, The great guy doubted everything including existence but he

could not doubt the fact that he doubted !!!! smiles!!

Yes! There is always a 'doubt' and a 'doubter'? all this Doubting

ends when one realizes

" I am therefore I exist" as our beloved Shankara Bhagvadapada would

say.

But to come to this realization , we need to know what is that

prevents us from knowing the 'Real' from the 'Unreal' ?

Enters Lady MAyA - " THE CREATOR AS WELL AS THE CREATED" ( this is

the Divine Feminine in me asserting this! smiles! )

And i agree with you with my body-mind and soul when you EXPRESS

BEAUTIFULLY

"It is time we went back to the reality that we see and experience,

the healthy and lusty reality that is joyful and painful, that

stretches from the abyss of darkness in the hidden recesses of the

mind to the exuberance of life bursting forth from the virgin fields

of earth. She is the Reality encompassing the world of the mortals

and the worlds of the immortals. She is the Great Mother, the

eternal consort of the Lord. "

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Yes, Maya-shakti is an inevitable aspect of Shiva ! and she plays

this role to perfection by acting as a veritable screen which

conceals the real form of things (Tirodhanankari) deluding us into

believing the multiform of universe, which in essence is uniform. If

Siva is real, so is his shakti ! How can the Reflector be real and

the object of reflection be Unreal? The reflected object has no

separate existence from its reflector. She ( maya-shakti) is

therefore Transcedent and Immanent! She just loves to play hide and

seek !! she is the 'marichi' of Ramayana, the Golden deer , playfully

hopping around eluding capture!

Just a month ago our beloved Kenji had explained to us in great

detail the Magical power of MAyA in the VEdas. Maya'S SUPERNATURAL

POWERS or extraordinary prowess via a pantheon of Vedic gods like

Indra, ashwins, Rbhus, Aditi, Varuna etc... and he even reiterated

again and again that Maya as "illusion" is a latter day concept which

emerged in the treatises of scholars.

But, vedantins like to call MAya "unreal" (ayathartha) and

anirvachaniya ( inexplainable). This is because fir them the whole

universe is 'unreal' (jagat mithya)!

But, how can the World be unreal?

She is Sakala-janani ( the mother of the universe) and Ambaal (THE

CASUAL MATRIX)! She is "chaitanyam" ( super-consciousness)!

ADVAITINS! forgive me ! i may be out-of-line here!

This great desire to understand what is 'unreal' so we can free

ourselves from the illusory power of Maya is itself work of Maya!

smiles !

IS THE WORLD UNREAL? it is our perception that is unreal.

why we should we read the scriptures like Srimad Bhagwat Gita, Bhrama

sutras, vedas , puranas, tantras etc if there is no difference

between the 'seeker' and that which is 'sought' ?

Maybe, the 'Maya' of Shankara's adwaithic doctrine is exclusively

reserved for the intellectuals and the scholars and the super

intelligent in this audience. To my simplistic mind, I like the

optimistic approach to Maya - it appeals to my temperament!

In the Kulacudamani Nigama, the Bhairavi addressing Bhairava

says, "Thou art the Guru of all, I entered into Thy body (as Shakti)

and thereby Thou didst become the Lord (Prabhu). There is none but

Myself Who is the Mother to create (Karyyavibhavini). Therefore it is

that when creation takes place Sonship is in Thee. Thou alone art the

Father Who wills what I do (Karyyavibhavaka; that is, She is the

vessel which receives the nectar which flows from Nityananda). By the

union of Shiva and Shakti creation comes (Shiva-Shakti-sama-yogat

jayate srishtikalpana). As all in the universe is both Shiva and

Shakti (Shivashaktimaya), therefore Oh Maheshvara, Thou art in every

place and I am in every place. Thou art in all and I am in all." The

creative World thus sows Its seed in Its own womb. (Arthur Avalon-

shakta and shaktism)
