Namaste,

I was hoping that one of you Sanskrit scholars could help me figure out the

proper pronunciation of these two words:

GHRINI and ADITYA

Thanks!

Namaste,

This may be one of the most sticky problems, trying to 'spell'

in English/Roman alphabet what is pronounced in another language!

(English word spellings themselves being so irregular!)

Here is an attempt to try the feat:

GH as in (gh)ost

RI " t(rue)

N " a(n)d

I " (i)nk

---------------------------

A as in f(a)ther

D " (th)e

I " (i)nk

T " pi(t)h

YA " (yea)rn

For a survey of other attempts, including sound files, pl. visit:
